GHK-Cu 100mg: Technical Description

GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine copper) is a naturally occurring copper complex first identified in human plasma. It is a tripeptide with a high affinity for copper, which is essential for various biological processes. The 100mg format is a high-concentration variant typically utilized in large-scale research or laboratory applications.

Core Characteristics

  • Molecular Composition: A tripeptide sequence (Glycine-Histidine-Lysine) bonded to a copper(II) ion.

  • Physical Appearance: Distinctive vibrant blue lyophilized powder. The blue color is a natural result of the copper chelation; a pale or white powder indicates a lack of copper.

  • Stability: Highly stable in aqueous solutions after reconstitution, but the lyophilized form should be kept away from intense light and heat to maintain its structural integrity.

Key Properties & Functions

  1. Tissue Remodeling & Repair: GHK-Cu is widely recognized for its ability to signal the synthesis of collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans. It is often studied for its role in wound healing and skin regeneration.

  2. Anti-Inflammatory Action: It acts as a potent antioxidant, helping to reduce oxidative stress and suppress inflammatory cytokines.

  3. DNA Repair: Research suggests GHK-Cu can influence gene expression, specifically resetting genes involved in cellular health and DNA repair to a more youthful state.

  4. Hair Follicle Stimulation: In cosmetic research, it is frequently explored for its potential to increase hair follicle size and stimulate growth by improving scalp vascularization.

Technical Specifications

Feature Details
Molecular Formula $C_{14}H_{22}CuN_{6}O_{4}$
Molecular Weight ~401.9 g/mol
Purity $\ge$ 98% (Standard for high-end research)
Solubility Highly soluble in water and physiological saline

Storage & Handling

  • Temperature: For long-term preservation, store the lyophilized vial at -20°C or 2°C to 8°C.

  • Reconstitution: Use bacteriostatic water or sterile saline. Because of the high 100mg concentration, ensure the volume of diluent is sufficient to achieve the desired concentration without oversaturating the solution.

  • Handling: GHK-Cu is relatively robust compared to growth hormone-releasing peptides, but it should still be handled with care to avoid contamination.

Note: Due to its copper content, GHK-Cu should not be mixed in the same syringe with high-concentration Vitamin C or other strong antioxidants, as they can cause the copper ion to dissociate from the peptide.
